The Making of Custom Molded Rubber Components

Rubber components have been in use for ages by every person, organization and industry. Custom made rubber components are rubberized parts created to be used in varied and specific applications. Examples of these are rubber washers, valves, tubes, etc. Such components are used practically by every industry worldwide.

There are many reasons why these products are important. The elastic material makes molded rubber components ideal for various applications due to its longevity, resistance to abrasions, flexibility, and its ability to resist environmental changes.

But how are these custom molded rubber products made? Here is where you will find the answer.
There are basically three types of methods used to create the components:

  • Compression molding
  •  Injection molding
  •  Extrusion

Compression Molding: This process involves changing a rubber compound into a specific shape using pressure and heat. The process begins with an uncured rubber compound, i.e., a hardened piece of the material. The compound is placed into a pre-shaped mold. This mold is closed, and using pressure and heat, the rubber compound melts and forms the shape of the desired component

Injection Molding: This process is one of the older processes, as it was invented during the 1960s. Here, the rubber compound is melted into a liquid form. A mold, which has been pre-shaped for a particular component is placed into a press. The liquid rubber is then injected into the mold while the press applies pressure at the same time. This helps to create the basic finished product.

Extrusion: This process is basically used to create long rubberized components such as tubes, pipes, or wheels. The liquid rubber is passed through a die, which forms the shaped of the finished product.

A little knowledge can go a long way. So the next time you are using a custom made rubber product, you may feel satisfied to know the process from which it came.

Choosing Pneumatic Seals For Your Applications

When you need pneumatic seals for tough applications, you need Valley Seal. Founded in 1966, we understand pneumatic and exactly how seals fit into a well-functioning pneumatic system.

Pneumatic seals restrict the flow of air or gasses from pneumatic cylinders and valves so the desired pressure can be maintained. In addition, the seal also prevents any foreign material, solid, liquid, or gaseous from getting into the pneumatic system.

Our high pressure pneumatic seals offer lower friction, true wear resistance, even at high speeds, and secure sealing characteristics. And if you have a need for seals used with harsh chemicals, extreme pressures and/or variable pressure, our seals will meet your needs.
Our seals are code compliant and competitively priced. We carry stock seals for the following operations:

  • Internal (rod seal)
  •  External (piston seal)
  • Symmetrical seal
  • Axis seal
In addition to offering safety, our pneumatic seals help you create and/or maintain both operational efficiency asl as cost savings.

We maintain strict quality control procedures so you can be assured you’re getting the high quality seals you need.

NOTE :  Pneumatic seals are designed for applications that are subjected to lower pressure levels than hydraulic seals. We’re always happy to discuss the differences and make sure you get exactly the seal you want a deserve. You know how important the right seal is for both the safety of your people and the security of your processes. Contact us today to discuss your pneumatic seal needs. We’re happy to put our expertise to work for you.

Experience the Valley Seal Advantage for Hydraulic Seals

When choosing hydraulic seals, you likely place immense importance on parameters such as zero leakage, a long service life, low friction, and a practical price-to-performance ratio. As a leading distributor of hydraulic and pneumatic seals, we at Valley Seal also lay stress on these very parameters.

We look at every application from our customers’ standpoint before recommending the best sealing solution. A typical Hydraulic seal consists of an integral PTFE ring and elastomer ring, providing the properties of an elastomeric ring with a rigid, low friction (PTFE) working face.
Our extensive range of seals for hydraulic applications is not limited to standard products. We can also honor your requirement for custom-designed or custom-made seals for use with hydraulic cylinders and valves for both rotary and reciprocating motion.

Valley Seal’s experience and industry expertise spanning more than 4 decades speaks for itself. At Valley Seal, we customarily provide hydraulic seals for the Aerospace and Military markets where factors such as durability and quality are paramount.

Over the years, we have formed strategic relationships with leading manufacturers of hydraulic and pneumatic seals. As a result, we are able to pass on the following benefits to our customers every single time:

  • Competitive prices
  • Short turnaround times for order fulfillment
  • The assurance and guarantee of quality
  • Ability to source hard-to-find seals and sealing products
  • Value-added services and responsive after-sales services

Our team of engineers and sales correspondents is standing by to help you choose the best hydraulic seals for your applications. For more information or assistance, please visit us at www.valleyseal.com.
